Easy Air Fryer Omelet with Boursin Cheese
This air fryer omelet tastes much fancier than the effort it takes. Inspired by the potato-chip omelet from The Bear, it combines fluffy eggs, creamy Boursin cheese, a buttery finish, crushed sour cream and onion chips, and fresh chives.

Why This Easy Air Fryer Omelet Works
Preheating the pan at 400°F gives the eggs a hot cooking surface from the moment they are poured. The bottom begins setting right away, allowing the omelet to cook evenly without flipping or standing over the stove.
The Boursin is added after the eggs cook, so it stays creamy instead of disappearing into the egg mixture. The sour cream and onion potato chips add the salty crunch that makes this omelet feel special, while chives bring a fresh finish.
Air Fryer Boursin Omelet Recipe
A simple three-egg omelet with a creamy Boursin center, buttery finish, crushed potato chips, and optional chives.
Ingredients
- 3 large eggs
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 to 3 tablespoons Boursin cheese
- 1 handful sour cream and onion potato chips, crushed
- Chopped chives, optional
Ingredient note: Garlic and fine herbs Boursin is the classic choice, but another savory Boursin flavor will also work.
Instructions
- Preheat the pan: Place the Metal Air Fryer Pan in the air fryer and preheat at 400°F/200°C for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Whisk the eggs: Crack the eggs into a bowl, add the salt and black pepper, and whisk until completely smooth.
- Butter the hot pan: Carefully remove the Metal Air Fryer Pan. Add the butter and swirl until it melts and coats the bottom. Reserve any butter that collects around the edge for finishing.
- Add the eggs: Pour the egg mixture into the hot buttered pan.
- Air fry: Lower the temperature to 350°F/175°C and cook for 8 minutes, or until the omelet is set and lightly puffed.
- Add the Boursin: Carefully remove the pan, spoon 2 to 3 tablespoons Boursin down the center, and gently fold the omelet over the cheese.
- Add the buttery finish: Brush or spoon any melted butter remaining in the pan over the folded omelet.
- Top and serve: Finish with the crushed sour cream and onion potato chips and optional chives. Serve immediately while the cheese is creamy and the chips are crisp.
Mikey tip: The omelet continues setting after it leaves the air fryer. Pull it as soon as the center is set instead of cooking until it looks dry.
Tips for the Best Boursin Omelet
- Preheat the pan. A very hot Metal Air Fryer Pan helps the eggs begin setting immediately.
- Whisk until smooth. Fully blending the whites and yolks creates a more even, tender omelet.
- Do not overcook. The eggs continue cooking from residual heat after the pan comes out.
- Add Boursin after cooking. This keeps it creamy and makes the folded center feel more restaurant-style.
- Add chips at the very end. They stay crisp instead of absorbing moisture from the eggs and cheese.
- Try the mayonnaise option. For a richer variation, whisk a small spoonful of mayonnaise into the eggs before cooking.
Easy Variations
- Use a different savory Boursin flavor.
- Swap the sour cream and onion chips for another thin, crisp potato chip.
- Add a small handful of spinach before cooking.
- Finish with dill, parsley, or green onion instead of chives.
- Add a little hot sauce after folding for extra heat.

Frequently Asked Questions
What flavor of Boursin is best for this omelet?
Garlic and fine herbs is the classic choice because it adds creamy texture, garlic, and herbs all at once. Another savory Boursin flavor will also work.
Why add the Boursin after the eggs cook?
Adding it just before folding keeps the cheese creamy and creates a rich center instead of blending it completely into the eggs.
Can I make this without potato chips?
Yes. The crushed chips add salty crunch and connect the recipe to the omelet from The Bear, but the eggs and Boursin are still delicious without them.
Why is my omelet still wet after 8 minutes?
Air fryer temperatures and pan sizes vary. If the center still looks liquid, cook for another 1 to 2 minutes and check again.
Can I use shredded cheese instead of Boursin?
You can, but the result will be different. Boursin creates a softer, creamier filling, while shredded cheese produces a more traditional melted-cheese omelet.
